Tea & Sweet Shoppe Card AND BBTB2 Blog Hop

Hello and happy Monday.  Welcome to my Tea and Sweet Shoppe!  This week's challenge cut at BBTB2 is the Genie Lamp from the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge.  I ALMOST went with a cute oasis scene on my card but then I decided to take the road less traveled and add my lamp to a line of assorted teapots.

I have to tell you that I do not think I have ever used this many cartridges on a single card.  I used Paper Doll Dress Up, Just Because Cards, Sweet Treats, Tie the Knot, George, A Child's Year, Dreams Come True, Once Upon A Princess, and Cindy Loo.  Each of the teapots is from a different cartridge, as are the cakes.

I like the store window effect I created by welding two shapes from George in Design Studio and then adding layers.  And of course I had to add pearls and gems to my sweets and shelving.  I used copic markers and my Ranger white gel pen to embellish the teapots, cups, and sweets.

I kept trying to find a way to add large flowers and ribbon, but the additions distracted from my main store window effect so I did not use them.    Instead, I finished the card by adding a swiss dot cardstock mat inside the card and cutting a "sweet" phrase with the Cindy Loo font.

I believe I mentioned a BBTB2 BLOG HOP!!  Yes it is our blog hop week.  I have some sweet blog candy up for grabs - just leave a message below and you will be in the drawing for a CUSTOM CROPS GIFT VOUCHER!!!  That's right!  Free shopping!!

Ice Cream Cone Treat Box with Sweet Treats

You know how we all have cartridges that are not fully appeciated and used? For me one of those is Sweet Treats. I love the cakes, pies, ice cream, etc. cuts on ST, but I confess that I have only just begun to use the multitude of available cuts. In fact, I had never made of the Sweet Treat treat boxes.

My favorite ice cream cone is strawberry ice cream.  So of course I had to make the strawberry ice cream cone treat box.  In real life I would not top the strawberry cone with chocolate, but the drippy chocolate look wonderful on this cone.  I also like that this cone is topped with a strawberry.

I used the DCWV Sweet stack to cut the treat box elements.  In addition to the ice cream cone and the box cut I also used Sweet paper for the box cut trims (see the box sides in photo number one).  I did add touches of pink bazzill cardstock (scalloped trim on the sides) and green bazzill cardstock (the strawberry leaves).  I completed the treat box by adding ribbon handle.  The ribbon was threaded through the holes on the sides of the treat box and knotted on the inside of the box.

Just think how cute the birthday cake treat box would be for a special birthday!!  I may have to make the B-day box next!!!

In Honor of the Cricut Cake Release....

Did you order yours yet???  I am, of course, referring to the Cricut Cake???  Mine has been preordered and I have NO idea when to expect it, but I am SOOOO excited for it to arrive!  In honor of Cricut Cake Day I used the Sweet Treats cartridge (with a the lattice from Wild Cards) and made this Bridal Shower cake.

My DH was cute - he did not want to be critical so he gently asked, is it off center a bit???  Yes - quite a bit!!  I did not want to share the bride's name so I did not attach the scalloped circle tag which goes in the upper right of the card front (hanging off the edge a tiny bit).  So no, I have not lost my ability to CENTER.... honestly!

Sooo for several days now I have been mentioning an upcoming announcement.  Today is the day...  Here goes:

I am adding a sister blog site, Busy with the Cricky Cake.  Some friends and I will be sharing Cricut Cake projects - cakes and other food items - each week at the new sister blog site in the near future.  Of course we have to wait for the Cake machines to arrive.  :-(    I will let you know when we are fully up and running.  I am quite excited about the new blog and I have Joy Tracy and Melanie Brown to thank (or blame) for the idea!  But once the idea took hold, we thought it could be quite fun.  Our Cricut Cakes are on their way so I hope to have our first cake project posted next week!!  I hope you will consider registering as a follower at Busy with the Cricky Cake!

BBTB2 Sweet Treats Birthday Bash Cake Card

Happy BBTB2 Monday - This week there is a Birthday Bash going on over at BBTB2 where I had the pleasure of selecting this week's challenge cut, Cake2 from the Sweet Treats cartridge. Sunday was my 50th birthday and the wonderful Design Team graciously agreed to share my birthday by using the Sweet Treats Cake2 cut.

I used the Cake2 cut to create this adorable Birthday Cake. I used a vibrant lime green for the shadow cut, yellow cardstock for the icon cut, pink swirls (Basic Grey) for the cake layers, and aqua for the icing cuts.

The birthday candle is lime green with yellow twists. I added the phrase "Make a Wish", a cut also on the Sweet Treats cartridge, to the front of my card and cake.

I embellished my cake with Prima flowers and a pretty aqua ribbon with a bow. I also added Melissa Frances pearls to the icing cuts. The cake is sitting on a pretty silver cake plate (above). The image below shows the aqua oval I used as matting for my cake. I trimmed the oval with fuzzy ball trim and white stitching doodles. The tops layers are mounted on a pretty plaid oval card, which is pink on the inside.

If you have not already gone by BBTB2 and viewed the Design Team projects, you should do so.  As always, the DT so impressed me with their collective talent and creativity.
